Exhibition Introduction: The "NigeriaTex International Textile and Apparel Expo" was established in 2017 and has received strong support from numerous national textile importer associations in Nigeria, the Lagos State Government, and the Nigerian Federal Government. It has developed into an international, professional, and large-scale textile expo in West Africa. NigeriaTex 2024 attracted 10,217 visitors from 24 countries and regions, including Ghana, Benin, Kenya, Niger, Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan. Nearly 100 Chinese exhibitors came from 13 provinces and municipalities, including Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Shandong, Shanghai, Henan, Fujian, and Hunan. The Acting Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Lagos, the Chairman of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives of the Lagos State Government all participated in the series of opening events. The expo featured hundreds of B2B matchmaking sessions for importers from Nigeria and neighboring countries, resulting in numerous on-site orders and excellent trade outcomes.

NigeriaTex implemented comprehensive promotional strategies, including extensive advertising in mainstream local media, television, and radio, such as Nigeria's top-selling newspapers *The Sun* and *The Punch*, Nigerian National Television (NTA), Nigerian International Broadcasting (VON), and the online platform *The Punch Online*. In addition, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Nigerian national textile associations such as the Balogun Business Association Nigeria, the Association of Curtain and Bedding Materials Dealers, and the Fabrics Sellers’ Association were invited to assist in the exhibition's promotion. Furthermore, more business opportunities were provided through value-added targeted promotion, point-to-point buyer invitations, online pre-registration matching for exhibitors, and on-site B2B matching.

The concurrently held Lagos International Trade Fair (LITF), which began in 1981 and will be held in 2025 (its 39th edition), lasts for 10 days and is currently the largest international trade fair in West Africa. LITF exhibitors come from more than 20 countries in Africa, Europe, America, and Asia, with an exhibition area of 50,000 square meters. Visitors are mainly from ECOWAS countries.

NigeriaTex shares all of LITF's resources, including buyers and promotion.

Market Overview:

⊕ Huge Market: Nigeria is Africa's largest economy and most populous country. In 2024, Nigeria's population reached 227 million, accounting for one-sixth of Africa's total population. Among them, the middle class exceeded 38 million. Its GDP grew at an average annual rate of 6.8% over the past decade, with steadily increasing consumption power. The political situation is relatively stable, the business environment is relaxed, and it is friendly to the Chinese community, possessing a diverse consumer base across low, middle, and high income levels.

⊕Strong Purchasing Power: As an OPEC member, Nigeria boasts the largest oil reserves and production in Africa and is one of the world's top five liquefied natural gas exporters, demonstrating strong purchasing power. Its growing population and economic strength guarantee Nigeria's purchasing power and consumption capacity.

⊕Strong Influence: Lagos, with a population of over 20 million, accounts for 70% of West Africa's maritime trade. It is a major distribution center and the most important transshipment port in West Africa, exerting a strong influence on neighboring countries and serving as China's gateway to West Africa.

⊕Weak Industrial Base: With a weak manufacturing base and just beginning its industrialization process, Nigeria relies on imports for 90% of its goods, making it a typical consumer market.

⊕Bilateral Trade: In 2023, bilateral trade between China and Nigeria reached $22.56 billion. Nigeria is my country's largest export market, second-largest trading partner, largest contracting market, and major investment destination in Africa. Chinese goods are highly competitive locally. Imported textiles account for 85% of Nigeria's market share, with 95% of textiles and garments coming from China. The top three product categories are clothing, wax-printed fabrics, and footwear.

⊕Industrial Cooperation: Nigeria's textile industry lacks competitiveness and suffers from insufficient equipment, remaining at a low level. The high-end textile manufacturing market is completely absent. West Africa is the world's fifth-largest cotton-producing region, with cotton prices only half that of the three major cotton-producing countries: the US, China, and India. The Nigerian government began planning a special economic zone for the textile and garment industry in 2018, with promising development prospects.
